Local Village

Belvès is a beautiful medieval village 5 minutes away with restaurants, bistro, café, supermarket, butcher, pharmacy, bank, post office, beautician, tourist office, market and quiet streets to meander.

History

Cave settlers lived in this region over 40,000 years ago and their artwork is believed to be the oldest in the world. In medieval times La Dordogne was a rich area and often fought over by French and English kings. The wealth the aristocracy brought to this area created beautiful bastide villages such as Belvès and Monpazier, and a 1000 chateaux.
